I don’t think that people’s perception of self harm should be swayed one way or another by age. The mental anguish involved is serious and shouldn’t be subject to skepticism. Besides, I started cutting when I was just about to turn 16. And I don’t think it was any less a “real” issue than it was when I turned 17.
